REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION NO. 01-37 OF THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, CONDEMNING THE COWARDLY ACTS THAT RESULTED IN THE APPARENT TERRORIST ATTACKS IN UNITED STATES' CITIES YESTERDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

The backbone of the United States of America is our precious values of freedom, civility and equality. Yesterday's apparent acts of terrorism have resulted in grave tragedies with overwhelming loss of life. They have rocked and saddened the people of every community in our great nation as never before.

It is incumbent upon Miami-Dade County Public Schools to reach out to our students as well as to the people of the communities struck by these unspeakable acts of violence by offering our support, love and assistance during this difficult time. We must continue to teach that violence and terrorism should not be tolerated - not here or in any part of the world.

This item does not appear in the published agenda. The good cause to vary from the agenda is timeliness. The next scheduled School Board meeting is not until October 24, 2001.
