School Board Member Dr. Robert B. Ingram, Board Member
delivered the keynote address at the 2000 Holocaust Education
Summer Teaching Institute June 23rd at Florida International
University's North Campus.
The theme of the address was "Diversity
to Teachers." Ingram recounted incidents of discrimination
against African American, women, Hispanics, and Jews.
"I suggest that these experiences, as well as all
experiences, must bring us together instead of apart.
Whatever happened during those years of torture and tragedy
was a result of separation and human deprivation; therefore,
we must do whatever we can to turn this schism into a
bridge: A bridge over troubled waters."
